About

Glasgow University Medtech's flagship annual conference will take place on Saturday 18th March 2023.

It will be hosted in the new ARC building on campus which is a perfect venue to welcome delegates and provide an opportunity to network and inspire.

The morning will consist of a number of inspiring talks from innovators, researchers and clinicians working in the cutting edge of technology which will enhance the lives of our patients and communities.

The afternoon will consist of a variety of workshops which will range from virtual reality experiences to Pitching 101. Delegates will also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the latest medtech through the healthcare industry stall showcase.

Aims and Objectives

  • To enlighten attendees on the use of artificial intelligence and medical technology in healthcare.
  • To provide attendees with an opportunity to gain hands on experience in the field of medical technology and innovation.
  • To create a platform for networking for those interested in artificial intelligence, digital health and medical technology from various subjects/schools.

    Abstract Submission

    Abstracts for Poster presentations are welcome from all UK-based students from the College of Medical, Veterinary, and Life Sciences & School of Engineering, FY1/FY2 doctors.

    The deadline for submission is 17th February 2023 (Friday)

    all submitted abstracts should fulfil the criteria detailed below. Failure to meet these criteria will result in the rejection of submissions.

    Any research/audits/QI projects relating to innovation in healthcare with a technological component are suitable for submission.

    Abstracts, not exceeding 300 words (excluding headings and references), may be submitted by attending delegates. Any abstract that exceeds the specified word count will be excluded.

    All submitted abstracts must be in the following format:

    - Author(s)
    - Aim(s)
    - Methods
    - Results
    - Conclusion(s)

    A full list of participants and institutions involved should be included for credit. For references please use (1) (2) (3) etc in the body of the abstract and then list all references at the end.

    No more than one submission per person. Abstracts submitted to other conferences will be considered.

    Delegates whose abstracts are accepted will be asked to create a poster for presentation at the venue on the day of the conference.

    Each presenter will be required to purchase a ticket and attend the full conference to be eligible for consideration.

    The best-rated poster will be awarded a prize at the end of the conference. All poster presenters will receive a certificate of presentation to the lead presenter.

    Marking

    Each abstract will be awarded a score out of a maximum of 20.

    Points will be awarded as follows:
    Aim (achievable, testable): 0-3
    Method (appropriateness): 0-4
    Results (quality, presentation): 0-4
    Conclusion(s) (validity): 0-3
    Relevance to field of technological innovation: 0-2
    Significance/impact on clinical practice: 0-2
    Originality: 0-2
