The Hull York Medical School Cardiology Society is a society for those interested in a career in Cardiology or Cardiothoracic Surgery. It is an active society that hosts a series of lectures from guest speakers, workshops, and hands-on teaching and practical sessions.
The HYMS Cardiology Society offers the opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in Cardiology to learn more about the field and the chance to improve upon their existing exam knowledge. Additionally, the society offers teaching and research opportunities to HYMS Cardiology Society members.
For those who wish to teach there will be the option to host revision lectures for students in the build-up to the examination season.

Mr Dumbor Ngaage is a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He is interested in minimally invasive techniques in cardiac surgery.
Mr Ngaage obtained his primary medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Benin, Nigeria, and his postgraduate degrees in General Surgery from Nigeria and the United Kingdom. He then completed his cardiothoracic training in Yorkshire, United Kingdom and The Mayo Clinic, USA. He later obtained FRCS(C-Th), FETCS in Cardiovascular Surgery, FETCS in Thoracic Surgery and MS in Clinical Research from The Mayo Graduate School, USA.
Mr Ngaage has a track record in clinical research of being well published. He is also on the editorial board of cardiothoracic and intensive care journals.

Following the success of the first cardiology careers talk, HYMS Cardiology Society and Hull Surgical Society are pleased to announce their second talk, ‘Career in Cardiothoracic Surgery: Heart to Heart with Mr Ngaage’.
This event will focus on what a career in cardiothoracic surgery entails and the steps required to get there. Everyone is welcome to attend, including those who are unsure of what they wish to do in the future.
Refreshments and a certificate of attendance will be provided to those who attend. This will be beneficial to medical students looking to create or expand upon their portfolio.
This talk will be video-linked to all peripheral sites including York Hospital (Conference Room), Grimsby (Consulting Room 1), Scunthorpe and Scarborough (Clinical Skills Lab). The video link will be accessible via Virtual Room 1000.
