About
The Cardiff Damage Control Surgery (DCS) Course is a one-day, skills-based course which uses a mixture of synthetic models and animal tissue to provide high fidelity surgical simulation and training on the trauma skills required to save the life of the most severely injured patients. The course is delivered to registrars in General Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Transplant Surgery from across the Wales Deanery. There is a highly experienced course faculty comprising of both civilian and UK military clinicians from across the South Wales Major Trauma Network.
The course syllabus has been mapped to the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Index Procedures for a Certificate of Completion of Training in Trauma. The course is currently offered free of charge to delegates as part of the training programme for the Major Trauma Centre. Additional material is from the Military Operational Surgical Teams Training (MOSTT) Course.
