About:
This one-day course is aimed at GCSE students who are considering pursuing a career in Medicine. It will introduce students to a number of clinical skills with which medical students should be familiar, providing them with ample opportunity to gain hands-on experience, as well as appreciate the theoretical concepts behind such skills.
It is hoped that students will be able to discuss the skills practised and conceptualised in their applications to Medical School.

- Surgical Gowning and Gloving
- IV Cannulation and Blood Drawing
- Management of Burns
- Types of Surgical Instruments and Handling
- Surgical Instruments
- Types of Sutures
- Suturing Practice
- Debridement of a Contaminated Wound
- Laparoscopic Skills
- Principles of Diathermy
- Taking a Pulse
- Using a Stethoscope for Auscultation of a Heartbeat
- Using a Doppler Machine to Detect Blood Flow
