19th January 2019 (Saturday)
Allam Medical Building, University of Hull, Hull, HU6 7RX

FEEDBACK

Following the success of the five previous conferences, HYMS Joint Surgical Societies are delighted to present the HYMS 6th National Undergraduate Surgical Conference, which will take place on Saturday 19th of January 2019 at the the Allam Medical Building, University of Hull.

This one-day event is open to all undergraduate medical students and will offer delegates an opportunity to attend three workshops covering a range of surgical skills and specialities. It intends to provide all attendees with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of and enthusiasm for surgery, to gain exposure to a range of surgical specialities, and to build their basic skills from knot-tying to chest drain insertion, portfolio-building to laparoscopic skills. Delegates are encouraged to select learning opportunities from which they can most benefit.

The keynote speakers represent a cross-section of some of the leading figures in surgery and it will be a huge honour to welcome them: Professor Giles Toogood (Consultant Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant Surgeon, President Elect of the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, and former first-class cricket player), Professor Betsy Evans (Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon), Mrs Lisa Hawfield-Law (Consultant Surgical Educationalist), and Mr Simon Fleming (Trauma and Orthopaedic registrar on the Pott rotation in London and leader of the anti-bullying #HammerItOut campaign). We are certain they will provide insightful and inspirational teaching to all who attend and we look forward to gaining from their experience and clinical excellence.
