9th November 2024 (Saturday)

RILD, Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, Barrack Road, EX2 5DW

About

The South West Student Orthopaedic Conference 2024 aims to inspire medical students and junior doctors into a career in Orthopaedics. It seeks to build on the l medical student experience of Orthopaedics and expose delegates to themes they are unlikely to have encountered during the standard curriculum.

The morning will consist of a number of talks from experts across the country, covering subspecialties such as: Oncological Orthopaedics, Ortho-plastics and Sports Orthopaedics which will showcase the breadth of Orthopaedics and hopefully inspire delegates into the speciality.

The afternoon session will enable delegates to participate in small group workshops, including hip arthroplasty, knee arthroplasty and spinal fracture fixation. These will be led by senior Orthopaedic colleagues, allowing delegates to gain a better understanding of the technical demands of the specialty.

Aims and Objectives

  • To showcase the breadth of Orthopaedics and inspire delegates to pursue a career in Orthopaedics.
  • To offer delegates the opportunity to engage with specialists in orthopaedic surgery.
