Dates
The BMAT currently runs three times each year: February, August/September and October/November. Different universities accept different sittings of the test, and it is therefore essential that you sit the BMAT on the correct date in order to successfully apply to the universities of your choice. The websites of your chosen universities will contain this information.
It is important to note that you can sit the BMAT only once each year.
Detailed information for the August/September 2022 and October/November 2022 sessions has not yet been released by Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing. This page will be updated as soon as the necessary information is available.

General Advice
Plan your journey to the test centre in advance. Make sure that you know where to go and arrive before the scheduled start time of the test.
You must present a valid photographic identification on the day of the test. This could be your passport, your (provisional) driving licence, or your student card.
You can take a pen or a pencil with you for your rough work. The centre will provide you with paper to do any rough work.
Dictionaries and calculators are prohibited.
You will receive any specific advice from the test centre.
You will receive a Statement of Entry upon which your candidate number will be written. You must write your candidate number on your answer sheets.
Candidates must complete each section of the test in succession. At the end of each section, once you have been told that the time is up, you will hand in your answer sheet and receive the answer sheet for the next section. You will be told when to start each section. The time cannot be shared between sections.
At the end of the test, you will be given a document called ‘Confidential Results Information’. This will include the details you will require to access your BMAT score on the Metritests system. The date upon which the results will be released can be found on the ‘Test Results’ section of the BMAT website.
Your BMAT score will not automatically be sent to your chosen universities. You must select the universities to which you would like your score to be given via the Metritests system once it has been released.
If you experienced any issues on the day of the test that might have affected your performance, you can request Special Consideration. Such issues include temporary illness or injury or problems with the test administration (such as a fire alarm). You will need to complete an online form to apply for Special Consideration. This can be found on the BMAT website.
