Keele National Inter-Medical School Surgical and Anatomy Challenge

This one-day interactive and competitive event will provide medical students and foundation year doctors with the opportunity to refresh, revise and enhance their clinical anatomy and surgical knowledge. This event is organised by the University Hospital of North Midlands Department of Surgery, Doctors Academy Surgical and Anatomical Sciences Directorate and Surgical Society of Keele University Medical School, and supported by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Royal College of Surgeons of England, and British Association of Surgical Oncology. The day will comprise of two distinct but related competitions - The 4th National University Anatomy Challenge and The Quiz on Surgical Knowledge - interspersed with keynote talks in various surgical disciplines.
Aimed at:
- Medical Students (all years)
- Foundation Years 1 and 2 Doctors (pre-MRCS)
Delegates can compete in the two competitions on an individual basis but their scores will also contribute towards the cumulative points for their respective university. The total points gained by individuals in the screening round and knockout round of the Anatomy Challenge and both rounds of the Surgical Knowledge Quiz will be added to identify the winning university.
The 4th National University Anatomy Challenge will begin with a screening round which will consist of multiple choice questions in spotter format (PowerPoint). The 32 delegates who score the highest in the screening round will enter the buzzer rounds. The final round will see the four highest-scoring delegates competing for the title of winner.
The Surgical Knowledge Quiz will consist of two rounds of multiple choice questions. The questions will be in spotter format (PowerPoint) and will focus on the principles of surgery, applied physiology, and clinical application. The delegate with the highest combined score in both rounds will be named the winner.
Cash prizes are available from the British Association of Surgical Oncology.
